FTX Logistics Ltd

FTX Logistics Ltd (FTX) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kellogg Brown & Root Ltd, part of the KBR group of companies. Having completed a 22.5 year PFI contract in July 2024 delivering the British Army’s Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) Service, KBR has been awarded the HET Interim Capability Solution (ICS), a 3 year contract with two optional additional years.

FTX employs 88 Sponsored Reservists (SRs) to operate and maintain the HET Service.

What we do

FTX operates and maintains the fleet of 82 Heavy Equipment Transporters (HETs) in partnership with the Regular Army. FTX is tasked in peacetime by the British Army in the UK to deliver heavy military equipment up to the 72 tonne Challenger II Main Battle Tank.

Based at Bulford Barracks, Wiltshire, HETs move equipment for Exercises and between Units as required. Drivers are assigned from a pool of FTX Sponsored Reservists and Regular Soldiers.

FTX manages and maintains vehicles to DVSA Standards, carries out repairs and provisions spare parts for both the tractor and trailer.

For Military Operations and Exercises, vehicles and Sponsored Reserves are handed over to Field Army to deploy seamlessly with the Regular Army. FTX then assumes a supporting role.

When Sponsored Reservists are not required to drive and operate the HETs, they carry out commercial transport agency work, based from their home region. Revenue generated by the company from the spare driver capacity benefits the MoD.

Safety Highlights

In 2016 the Princess Royal presented the Carmen’s Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) Safety Award to FTX.  Following the receipt of 15 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) awards, FTX has received the Order of Distinction in 2024.
