VISIT TO CARDIFF BUS – TUE 20 MAY 25
Cardiff Bus https://www.cardiffbus.com/ has been Cardiff’s primary public transport company
providing buses for 123 years. Its iconic orange buses are easily recognisable and
considered as the beating heart of the city, carrying an average 60,000 passengers per
day. There are many fascinating logistic elements to the delivery of a complex bus service
including planning and scheduling, fleet provision, driver training and standards, and of
course operational delivery. The Managing Director, Craig Hampton-Stone, served in the
Royal Logistic Corps for 25 years and believes that there is a real opportunity for a ‘day out’
for corporate members, serving and veteran military logisticians to gain exposure to a
different form of logistics, but one which is still very much underpinned by the same ‘4
Ds’. The visit will incorporate a series of presentations which will include how the business
is run, a tour of the depot and engineering facility, and of course a ride on a bus!
It is strong suggested that this visit would be of greater interest to Div/Bde MD/WO, Unit
MTO/MTWOs and MT SNCOs or those in appts of similar role.

To be absolutely clear, RLC Connect does not actively seek to recruit SP for industry. Our
aim is to work collaboratively with our industry partners to bring together and share best
practices. This is a fantastic opportunity to better understand how Cardiff Bus manages,
maintains their daily operations and fleet of various platforms whilst having to continually
adapt to the constant financial and environmental challenges both now and in the future.
