CARDIFF BUS EVENT CARDIFF – TUESDAY 20 MAY 2025

RLC Connect visited Cardiff Bus Company on Tuesday 20 May 2025.  The aim of the visit was to get an overview of the various elements of delivering a public transport service which included planning, vehicle capability, engineering and driver skills.  We also had a tour of their maintenance facility and control/operations room.  The control/operations room monitors all bus activity within the Cardiff area, which enables instant remedial action should there be a problem with congestion, road closures or even accidents.  Their maintenance facility has the unique capability of providing in-house repairs to their bus fleet.

Cardiff Bus – EV Demonstration

Craig Hampton-Stone, Managing Director Cardiff Bus Company set the scene with a briefing on Strategic Operations, followed by a briefing from Dan Winmill, Commercial Director on Scheduling and Service Delivery.  Chris Morgan, Engineering Manager, gave an overview of Engineering Capability.  We were then treated to site tour which also included the opportunity for everyone to drive and manoeuvre a bus which was all within the safe confines of Cardiff Bus own site – it was great fun.
